Jefferson County Coroner’s Office Receives IACME Accreditation

The International Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners (IACME) recently announced that the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has received accreditation from the association.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office self-submitted to this process for the purpose of ensuring the operating policies, procedures, and practices are within international guidelines. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office was subjected to a review of 288 standards, including administrative, forensic, investigative, and facility review.

To receive IACME accreditation, 100% compliance with mandatory standards and 90% of all applicable standards must be met. The completion of this process, which takes five years, indicates professionalism and compassion by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.

The IACME congratulates the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office and Coroner Annette Cannon for their diligence in complying with these standards, leading the way in service and compassion for those they serve and their community.

“IACME accreditation allows our office to ensure to the people of Jefferson County that our business practices and procedures are following established standards. The accreditation strengthens the credibility of the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office and allows us to better serve the community,” said Annette Cannon, Jefferson County Coroner.
