[ARCHIVED] Welcome Clerk and Recorder Amanda M. Gonzalez!

Amanda Gonzalez

Amanda M. Gonzalez took the oath of office today to become the next Clerk and Recorder of Jefferson County. She succeeds outgoing Clerk George Stern. Here is more information about Clerk Gonzalez:

Amanda Gonzalez has spent her career creating policies that encourage civic engagement because she fundamentally believes that our democracy is better when everyone participates. Gonzalez is a former Executive Director of Colorado Common Cause, a nonpartisan good government group where she helped craft and pass policies that expanded ballot access, reduced the influence of money in politics, and ensured a complete count in the 2020 Census. During the course of her career she has served as a policy analyst and staff attorney, small business CEO, nonprofit executive director, and adjunct professor. She was appointed to the state's 2020 Census Complete Count Committee by Gov. Polis and Colorado's Bipartisan Election Advisory Commission under both Secretaries Griswold and Williams. She has also served on the boards of the Colorado Hispanic Bar Association, Colorado Fiscal Institute, New Era Colorado, Focus Points Family Resource Center, and the Colorado Lawyers Chapter of the American Constitution Society. The first in her family to go to college, she holds degrees from Occidental College and the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. She has also been recognized by the Colorado Hispanic Bar Association as an outstanding young attorney and by the Denver Business Journal as one of their 40 Under 40 awardees. During her down time she can be found watching reality television, enjoying early 2000s pop punk, scouring Colorado for the best soup dumplings, or cuddling on the couch with her rescue dogs, Judy and Charlie.
