Jefferson County Board of Health Welcomes New Board Member, Rachelle Woods

The Jefferson County Board of Health welcomes its latest member, Rachelle Woods.

Jefferson County, Colo. — On Nov. 1, 2022, the Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners appointed Rachelle Woods, MSN, RN, as the newest member of the Jefferson County Board of Health. The Board of Health is the governing body for Jefferson County Public Health (JCPH). 

Woods has served many communities across Colorado as a registered nurse for more than 25 years. She is an experienced clinical educator that has worked to provide health care professionals across the state with the clinical support needed to deliver the very best care to the people of Colorado. Woods shares a passion for the right to safe, competent, quality care, as well as access to affordable health care resources and services. 

“We are thrilled to have Rachelle Woods join the Board of Health,” said Cheri Jahn, President of the Jefferson County Board of Health. “Her leadership experience and dedication to our community aligns with the goals and duties of the board, and we are confident her expertise will help us continue to serve and support the people of Jefferson County to the fullest capacity.” 

Through her background in nursing, Woods brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in topics vital to the public health sector, including women and children’s services, transgender health care, STI and HIV services, family planning and infectious disease control. 

“As a 35-year resident of Jefferson County, I am excited to be able to serve my community in this new role,” Woods said. “I am looking forward to applying my skills and experience in support of the mission of the Board and the people of Jefferson County.” 

The Board of County Commissioners appoints the Jefferson County Board of Health. The Board of Health makes policies and decisions that help promote and protect health in the county. The Board also holds responsibly for appointing the Executive Director of the health department, and recruitment for this vacant position is currently open.

The Board of Health meets via Zoom at 4 p.m. on the third Tuesday of every month. Meetings are open to the public, and community participation is welcome and encouraged during a public comment portion of every meeting. Because JCPH is dedicated to language justice, every Board meeting utilizes simultaneous interpretation to create a space where everyone can participate and engage in the language they feel most comfortable using.
