JCSO Arrests DPD Sergeant for Internet Luring of a Child

Jefferson County, CO. – A sergeant with the Denver Police Department is in custody, facing charges of internet luring of a child. 45-year old Timothy Hyatt turned himself in to authorities just after 9 a.m. today, Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2022. Hyatt was arrested by the Cheezo Unit/Special Investigations Unit of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. 

The investigation began in February 2022, when Hyatt began communication with whom he believed to be a 14-year old girl. Hyatt used multiple social media platforms and a variety of online identities. During the virtual interactions, Hyatt made many sexually explicit advances toward the young teen. 

Based on information given, investigators were able to confirm Hyatt’s identity and he now faces one count of internet luring of a child. Hyatt’s first court appearance is scheduled for tomorrow, where he will be advised of the charges against him and a decision will be made regarding bond.
