Jefferson County Board of Health Designates Interim Senior Leadership Team to Lead JCPH

The Jefferson County Board of Health (BOH) and Jefferson County Public Health (JCPH) are in the planning stages of recruiting a new Executive Director to lead the department. To help lead JCPH and provide strategic public health direction in the meantime, the BOH has designated an Interim Senior Leadership Team comprised of many longtime leaders and directors at JCPH. In addition, as it is required by state law that county health departments always have a Medical Director on staff or in a consulting position, Dr. Sarah Rowan will continue to serve in this role.

“At the special Board of Health meeting on February 7, 2022, Dr. R. Dawn Comstock offered her resignation to the Board and we accepted it. Dr. Comstock has been a committed public servant, and this board is grateful for her public health expertise and guidance throughout the past year,” said Cheri Jahn, Jeffco Board of Health President. “The Interim Senior Leadership Team has already stepped up to the plate in leading JCPH through a difficult transition period, following two extremely demanding years. We are thankful for them and the contributions they are making to the department. We look forward to keeping the public updated through this transition with the Interim Senior Leadership Team and the coming search for the next Executive Director of JCPH.”

As we look to the future, both the BOH and JCPH want to assure the entire Jeffco community that the responsibility of appointing the next Executive Director of JCPH is one that is not taken lightly. The Board will be moving through the process very thoughtfully, while prioritizing value- and goal-setting and ensuring stability for the county’s residents and the hardworking staff at JCPH.
