President Joe Biden will visit Boulder County and the Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport (RMMA) on Friday, Jan. 7, to view first-hand the damage from last week’s Marshall Fire. President Biden will arrive in Colorado via Air Force One and will travel to RMMA onboard Marine One.President Biden will be accompanied by Governor Jared Polis and Congressman Joe Neguse. The President is expected to discuss federal support for the victims of the fire. The Biden administration authorized a disaster declaration for the fire, which allows the federal government to provide funds for immediate needs such as housing and home repairs.In addition to serving as the landing site for Marine One, RMMA is coordinating hangar space at the airport that can be used to store and distribute donations such as food, water and clothing for the victims of the fire.Located in Broomfield in the northern-most section of Jefferson County, RMMA is the fourth-busiest airport in Colorado. It had nearly 190,000 operations in 2020 and can accommodate all types of aircraft. It serves as a significant economic generator in Jefferson County and has received numerous awards.
