JCSO In-Custody Death

Jefferson County, CO. – Just after 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021 the Jefferson County Detentions staff were contacted by Lakewood Police to report the death of an inmate who was on work release. The inmate was found deceased of an apparent overdose in the bathroom of the store where he was working.

30-year old Sean William Hayes was booked into the JCSO Detention Facility on a probation violation on April 24, 2021. He was sentenced to 90 days in the work release program on August 30 and transferred to ICCS on September 1. 

Intervention Community Corrections Services (ICCS) is a private, non-profit community corrections agency that provides a wide variety of services to the criminal justice system. In addition to managing work release programs, the services include residential/non-residential offender management, substance abuse monitoring, and educational/vocational assistance.

Lakewood Police is conducting an investigation on the death.
