Suspect Arrested After Robbery at Smoke Shop

Press-Release

Jefferson County, CO. – Just before 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 30, 2021, deputies responded to a robbery that occurred inside the Smoker Friendly store, located at 6762 W. Coal Mine Ave. According to witnesses, the suspect attempted to buy cigarettes but was denied so he threatened the clerk, threw things around the store, pushed the clerk, grabbed items and ran out the door.

The original report suggested this was an armed robbery. Schools in the area were immediately put on lock out status as a precaution. Once it was confirmed the suspect was no longer in the area, the lock out was lifted. It was also determined no weapons were involved in the incident.

Within just a few hours, JCSO investigators were able to identify the suspect as 32-year old Stephen Spomer (03/31/89). He was found at his home in Denver and taken into custody. He is now booked into the jail on charges of robbery and theft.
