Jefferson County, CO. – In the early morning hours of Saturday, July 17, JCSO deputies were notified of a shooting that occurred in a moving vehicle near the intersection of US 6 and Colfax Avenue. The female driver of the vehicle told investigators they were driving from Blackhawk when the two male passengers began fighting. During the altercation, one of the males (the suspect) shot the other.
The driver was threatened and ordered by the suspect to drive around – eventually dropping off the shooting victim outside a hospital. The suspect was later dropped off in a neighborhood where he fled on foot. The driver then returned to the hospital and spoke with law enforcement. The victim is expected to recover from his injuries.
A warrant was issued for the suspect, identified as Isaac James Alvarado (DOB: 04-11-95). Alvarado was arrested without incident on July 20 by the FBI Safe Streets Fugitive Task force and the Westminster SWAT team. He is in custody on a $500,000 cash bond and faces charges of 2nd degree kidnapping, 2nd degree assault with a deadly weapon, felony menacing and 3rd degree assault. The District Attorney’s Office will determine final charges.
