Jefferson County’s Aging Well Project is re-branding to Age-Friendly Jefferson County.
The updated name, including a new look, better reflects the multi-generational efforts to create inclusive, livable communities through sustainable partnerships and integrated services.
Did you know that Jefferson County is officially designated as an Age-Friendly community? The designation is an acknowledgement of our inclusive, accessible, and supportive community which works to strengthen the well-being of all residents.
For many years, Aging Well has conducted research on the community and the various factors that allow for the well-being of all ages. As a member of the WHO Global Network for Age-friendly Cities and Communities, Jefferson County is part of a growing global movement of communities, cities, and other sub-national levels of government that are striving to better meet the needs of older residents.
Age-Friendly Jefferson County will continue all the same great work of Aging Well around accessible transportation, outdoor spaces & buildings, housing, civic participation and much more while also creating a campaign to combat negative stereotypes associated with different generations. The campaign aims to foster open-mindedness and curiosity about aging and will educate our community on what ageism is, what can be done to actively stop ageism, and provide tools to combat negative stigmas surrounding aging.
Through various social media platforms and a partner toolkit, Age-Friendly and local partners will highlight personal stories from people in our community who are working, thriving, and social.
Age-Friendly Jefferson County news, stories, and updates will be shared through Jefferson County social media including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Age-Friendly Jefferson County will continue to create an inclusive environment and ensure communities of all ages thrive. For more information and to get involved email [email protected].
