Jefferson County, CO. – The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office welcomes a new Public Information Officer (PIO) to the Public Affairs Unit. Karlyn Tilley comes to the Sheriff’s Office from the City of Golden (her home town), where she served as the Communications and Community Engagement Manager and PIO for more than 11 years. She has also been a member of the Jefferson County Incident Management Team since 2010.
“Karlyn is highly regarded as a trusted and experienced communications professional, both by the media and the public,” said Sheriff Jeff Shrader. “We are excited to have her join our team to help us further our goal of providing information to our residents with transparency and reliability.”
Karlyn is currently a board member for the Emergency Services Public Information Officers of Colorado (ESPIOC). She was voted PIO of the Year by the organization in 2014 and 2016. Prior to her work in Golden, Karlyn spent 15 years working as an award-winning anchor and reporter in television news. In particular, she worked in the Denver market at KMGH-7 for four years and at KCNC-4 for five years. She is a graduate of the School of Journalism at the University of Missouri.
