[ARCHIVED] Jefferson County Community Partners launches CommUNITY campaign

CommUNITY Campaign_News-762x470

Jefferson County Community Partners today announced and launched the CommUNITY campaign, a new campaign in the continued effort to promote and connect people in need in Jefferson County with community resources and assistance available amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jefferson County Human Services, Jefferson County Public Health and Jefferson County Public Affairs have collaborated with community partners including Benefits in Action, BGOLDN, Calvary Church Golden, Community Table, Evergreen Christian Outreach, Hunger Free Colorado, Integrated Family Community Services, Jeffco Eats, Joy’s Kitchen, Lakewood Connects, Mountain Resource Center, The Action Center, West Metro Chamber of Commerce and others to bring together available community-wide resource information under one easy to access hub to help connect our community to support that best fits their needs.

“Everyone can use a little extra help right now,” said Jefferson County Commissioner and Board Chair Lesley Dahlkemper. “The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted all of us but there are resources in our community available to help. And, it is okay to ask for help.”

Resources include food assistance, layoff support, unemployment assistance, work opportunities, housing, mental wellness support, childcare access, assistance for populations including pregnant women, children, and aging adults, and more.

“Whether you need help putting food on the table, getting back to work, or finding mental health support, there are community resources across the county that are here for you and your family,” said Mary Berg, Executive Director of Jefferson County Human Services. “Because of the impacts of COVID-19, many people are in need of support for the first time and are unsure of where to begin. The partnership of these Jeffco community organizations makes it easier to get what you need, when you need it.”

The CommUNITY campaign also encourages neighbors to safely check in on each other and share information about services they may not know exist. Information is also available to connect locals to volunteer opportunities with one of the many community partners supporting those in need.

“CommUNITY is about neighbors helping neighbors,” said Kelly Dunkin, CEO and President of Community First Foundation. ”Together, we make good possible and when we help each other connect, we safeguard the things we love most about Jeffco.”

For more information and to access resources, visit www.jeffco.us/community or call 2-1-1. Information is available in English and Spanish. The CommUNITY campaign is funded through the federal CARES Act.
