(Golden, CO – July 6, 2020) Charges have been filed against David Anthony Charles, DOB: 2-13-91, for stabbing two men at a bar in Lakewood on June 27, 2020. He has been charged with two counts of Attempted Murder (F2); two counts of First Degree Assault (F3); two counts Attempt to Commit First Degree Assault (F4); and one violent crime count.
Lakewood police were called to the Hangar 101 Bar and Grill at 7575 W. Jewell at 2:00 a.m. regarding a stabbing. According to the arrest affidavit, a bar fight broke out between Mr. Charles and a friend of his, and a second group of people. Charles is accused of stabbing and seriously injuring two men.
Mr. Charles left the bar in car but was contacted by police a short time later.
At a hearing today, Mr. Charles was advised of the charges filed against him. He is in custody of the Jefferson County jail with bond set at $500,000 and is due back in court on July 28 at 10:30 for preliminary hearing.
The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual has committed a crime(s). A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. See Colo. RPC 3.6
