[ARCHIVED] Clerk and Recorder reopens by appointment only

Clerk and Recorder offices reopen to the public by appointment only

Public should still take advantage of online, remote services

GOLDEN, Colo.—Jefferson County Motor Vehicle offices have reopened to the public on an appointment-only basis, but JeffcoDMV.com remains the fastest and safest way to complete transactions.

The Recording and Clerk to the Board offices have also reopened for in-person appointments. Due to budget cuts, most Jefferson County offices, including all Jeffco Clerk and Recorder divisions, are now open four days per week. The Clerk and Recorder operating hours are now 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

“We have taken strict precautionary measures to protect the public and our staff, such as installing plexiglass, removing most seats, and strongly encouraging face masks,” Jeffco Clerk George Stern said. “That said, we urge customers to stay safe by completing transactions remotely instead of coming into the office.”

As we follow public health guidance, appointments are initially very limited. Likewise, while we get caught up on the more than 70,000 customers we were not able to serve during our closure, wait times for the DMV call center will inevitably be long. Customers who think they need to come into the office are encouraged to first send us an email or take advantage of our online chat before making an appointment.

For those services that cannot be completed online, the DMV and Recording offices are offering a document drop-off option in addition to accepting paperwork and payment submitted through the mail.

Late fees for expired registrations will not be assessed through the end of June. As a reminder, renewal customers may also take advantage of one of Jeffco’s five kiosks located at King Soopers grocery stores throughout the county.
