Jefferson County, CO. – This week a total of 17 inmates in the Jefferson County Detention Facility have tested positive for COVID-19. All inmates who have tested positive have been moved to an isolation module. This outbreak is being handled according to pre-established procedures in line with the National Centers for Disease Control, Jefferson County Public Health, and our in-house medical provider, Wellpath.
Any inmate who reports or shows symptoms of COVID-19 will be tested after being moved to an isolation module. Any inmate who may have been exposed to one of the positive or symptomatic inmates is screened by medical staff and provided appropriate medical attention or observation.
All inmates and staff continue to practice the established COVID-19 preventative procedures already in place, such as frequent handwashing, wearing a mask, and social distancing when possible.
