Jefferson County was granted $101.7 million in federal relief funds Monday to cover expenses related to the Coronavirus. Jefferson County applied for the funds that are available from the federal government as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act).
The CARES Act made $2.2 trillion available to state and local governments, small businesses, and hospitals, in addition to providing stimulus payments and unemployment benefits to individuals. The Board of County Commissioners is working to share those funds as quickly as possible with cities in the county and is scheduled to review the options and make a decision on the distribution of funds on Monday, May. 4.
