Jefferson County Clerk and Recorder offices closed to the public
GOLDEN, Colo.—The Jefferson County Clerk and Recorder will be closed to the public beginning Tuesday, March 17. The closure extends to all divisions, including Motor Vehicle offices, Recording, Clerk to the Board, and Elections.
“We recognize that this decision will be disruptive to our customers, but the health and safety of our community is paramount,” Clerk George Stern said. “After close consultation with our partners at Jefferson County Public Health and county leadership, we are taking this step to help limit the spread of COVID-19.”
The department will provide an update on how long the closure will last via the Clerk and Recorder website as well as social media channels.
As a reminder, Jeffco drivers will not be assessed late fees during this time for expired registrations. Customers will still be able to perform some of the most popular Motor Vehicle transactions online at MyDMV.Colorado.Gov, including renewals, requesting a duplicate title, applying for a disability placard or changing an address.
Unfortunately, some services—such as obtaining a marriage license—cannot be conducted online, even during the closure. That said, the department will continue to respond to phone and email messages during normal business hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.
