[ARCHIVED] Jefferson County Board of Commissioners Directs a Closure of County Offices

COVID-19 Update

Update: March 19, 2020

On March 19, 2020, the Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners voted to approve a First Extension of Disaster Declaration COVID-19, which expanded the March 13, 2020, order declaring a COVID-19 local disaster emergency in and for Jefferson County, Colorado, issued by Chairman Lesley Dahlkemper. Both Disaster Declarations make Jefferson County eligible to receive funding and other assistance because the cost and magnitude of responding to and recovering from the impact of COVID-19 is expected to exceed Jefferson County’s available resources. The Disaster Declarations will continue until April 16, 2020, unless sooner amended, extended or rescinded.

Original Post: March 16, 2020

As the COVID-19, or Coronavirus, becomes more widespread, the Board of County Commissioners has directed the closure of all county offices to the public, effective today, March 16, with the exception of the courts and those services related to law enforcement. All Board of County Commissioner hearings and briefings will be continued/postponed until further notice due to this building closure. This is a preliminary action in advance of state direction and that of Jefferson County Public Health.

For more information about courts operations, see the First Judicial District website. If you are scheduled for a court appearance, please plan to appear unless you have been notified otherwise. For the latest information on the COVID-19 virus, community spread, and information for businesses and organizations, see the Jefferson County Public Health COVID-19 web page.
