[ARCHIVED] Jeffco sees historic primary turnout

Sunset outside of a polling center

Turnout in Jeffco was 50 percent—historic for any primary or non-November election. Among Democratic voters, turnout was 64 percent—a near-general election level. Among Republican voters, turnout was 52 percent—extremely high in a primary with an incumbent president on the ballot. Among unaffiliated voters, turnout was 39 percent—remarkable given that this is the first time they’ve ever been eligible to vote in a presidential primary in Colorado.

Despite being Colorado’s fourth-largest county, Jefferson County currently has—as it did in 2019—the highest number of ballots cast of any county in the state. And despite having the highest number of ballots cast, Jeffco finished counting 99 percent of them last night. Well done, Jeffco voters! And well done, Jeffco Elections Team!
