Jefferson County, CO. – On December 21, 2019, deputies arrested Alex Duran (9/25/1990) for charges of attempted murder and arson after responding to a structure fire in the 8400 block of South Reed Street.
When deputies arrived, the six unit condominium building where Duran resided, was fully engulfed in flames with reports of people still inside. Deputies used a neighbor’s ladder and assisted a father and son out of a third floor residence. South Metro Fire Rescue and West Metro Fire Rescue worked together to extinguish the fire.
Duran was later found, taken into custody, and interviewed. Duran was booked into the Jeffco jail on 12 counts of attempted 1st degree murder, six counts of 1st degree arson, 9 counts of 2nd degree arson, 18 counts of 4th degree arson, criminal mischief, and 3rd degree assault.
The building is currently uninhabitable and all residents have been displaced. One deputy and one firefighter were taken to hospitals and treated for injuries related to the fire.
