Charges have been filed in the murder of a 28-year-old man outside a convenience store in Lakewood. Israel Becerril-Rodriguez, DOB: 3-20-94, has been charged with First Degree Murder – After Deliberation (F1) and two violent crime counts.
On November 3, 2019 Lakewood Police were called to a convenience store at 1107 S. Sheridan Blvd. on a report that a man had been shot. Jesus Arambule Terrones, 28, was determined to be dead at the scene. According to the arrest affidavit, there were witness statements that Becerril-Rodriguez was acquainted with the victim and that he, Becerril-Rodriguez, was involved with Terrones’s ex-wife.
An arrest warrant was issued for Becerril-Rodriguez on November 4, 2019 and charges were filed on November 25. He was arrested in Nevada and extradited to Colorado on November 26. He is being held at the Jefferson County jail without bond and is due back in court on February 6, 2020 for preliminary hearing.
The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual has committed a crime(s). A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. See Colo. RPC 3.6
