(Golden, CO – November 15, 2019) District Attorney Pete Weir announced that charges have been filed in the death of Rene Perez at his home in Lakewood on October 15, 2019. Three men and one woman have been arrested and charged with First Degree Murder as well as additional charges, according to their alleged participation:
Lakewood police were called to an apartment in the 200 block of S. Teller Street on a report of shots being fired. According to information previously released by the Lakewood Police Department, they found Mr. Perez on the ground in the parking lot, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital where he died of his injuries.
The four defendants are being held without bond at the Jefferson County jail. They are all due back in court on February 12 at 8:30 a.m. for preliminary hearing. The arrest affidavit is sealed at this time so no further information is available at this time.
The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual has committed a crime(s). A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. See Colo. RPC 3.6
