District Attorney Pete Weir announced that charges have been filed in the death of 32-year-old Rotasha Pryor-Thomas in Lakewood on November 2, 2019. Jarvis Rondale Gates, DOB: 6-15-81, has been charged with First Degree Murder – After Deliberation (F1); First Degree Murder – Felony Murder (F1); Second Degree Kidnapping (F4); Tampering with Physical Evidence (F6); and one violent crime count.
Lakewood police were called to the Chalet Motel on W. Alameda on a report of a suspicious death. According to the arrest affidavit, they found Ms. Pryor-Thomas, deceased, in the bath tub, with the water running and overflowing onto the floor.
The police investigation led to the arrest of Mr. Gates on November 5, 2019. He appeared in court on November 13 to be advised of the charges filed against him.
He is being held without bond at the Jefferson County jail. He is due back in court on November 26.
