Invasive Species Management

  1. Big Year Jeffco 2018

    January 1, 2018 - December 31, 2018

    As part of our Land Stewardship Series Jeffco Invasive Species Management and Jeffco Open Space will be sponsoring BIG YEAR JEFFCO in 2018. Because Jefferson County is home to over 200 species of birds, we decided to encourage people to get outside and document the birds they see within the county. Participants need to register to have their sightings be included in the BIG YEAR JEFFCO official count. Participants will also need an eBird account. eBird is the online venue for documenting the birds participants see and will be the official site for recording BIG YEAR JEFFCO sightings.

    The Sheriff's Office will accommodate collections at three sites in the county: Sheriff's Office Headquarters 200 Jefferson County Parkway Golden, CO 80401 Conifer High School 10441 County Road 73 Conifer, CO 80433 Dakota Ridge High School 13399 W Coal Mine Avenue Littleton, CO 80127 This one-day effort is intended to bring national focus to the issue of increasing pharmaceutical controlled substance abuse. The program is anonymous -Prescription and over-the-counter solid dosage medications, (tablets and capsules) are accepted -Intravenous solutions, injectables, needles and oxygen containers will not be accepted -Illicit substances such as marijuana or methamphetamine are not a part of this initiative -The prescriptions should be removed from the original containers and placed in a plastic bag prior to drop off
