Jury Duty Scam
In this type of scam, the victim receives a telephone call from a person who identifies themselves as an officer of the court, an officer from a local law enforcement agency, or a US Marshall. The caller tells the victim they failed to report for jury duty, and now have warrants out for their arrest, but they can avoid arrest by paying a fine immediately.
The caller often asks for a credit card payment, but will sometimes instruct the victim to obtain a prepaid Visa card. In some cases, the caller might ask for other personal information.
