Project Background:
Jefferson County is replacing an existing culvert located just east of the Black Mountain Drive and Sullivan Drive intersection with a new reinforced concrete pipe. This pipe replacement is to address degrading infrastructure and prevent failure of the pipe and roadway. Construction will involve roadway work, excavation, pipe removal, pipe installation, grading, and removal of overgrowth.
Project Scope:
The project entails replacing an existing corrugated metal pipe located within the public roadway with a new reinforced concrete pipe. This process will involve removal of the roadway, excavation, pipe removal, pipe installation, and roadway repairs.
Project Schedule:
The project is currently scheduled to begin construction in September 2023. Work will begin with removal of overgrowth and preparing for the roadway construction. The contractor will close this location to through traffic while the culvert is being installed. The roadway will be closed during needed times only. Active construction in the roadway is anticipated to take less than two weeks.
