In partnership with Alfred Benesch & Co., Jefferson County developed plans to provide a safer pedestrian crossing of West Coal Mine Avenue at the South Van Gordon Way intersection. Two conceptual alternatives provided by the consultant, as well as a no-build scenario, were evaluated for their feasibility, cost, and traffic impacts. A final project report highlights the preferred conceptual design and outlines the alternatives considered, traffic analysis, and evaluation process, and incorporates feedback from residents.

The county tentatively intends to complete design and construction of the preferred conceptual design by Fall 2023.
