[ARCHIVED] Colfax Avenue Sidewalk, Golden, CO 80401

The original item was published from July 8, 2022 10:30 AM to November 1, 2022 10:23 AM

Project Background:

Jefferson County identified the section of W. Colfax Avenue from Nile Court to Poppy Street as a location where pedestrian infrastructure will provide additional safety. The existing north side of W. Colfax Avenue from Nile Court to Poppy Street has no sidewalk and pedestrians walk along the paved shoulder. By providing a pedestrian facility, walkers will be redirected from the paved shoulders. Safety conditions will improve for both pedestrians and vehicles.

This project and Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) Project 22953 will complete the pedestrian route along the north side of Colfax Avenue (US-40) from I-70 to US-6. CDOT Project 22953 will also work to complete this pedestrian route with the installation of sidewalk from I-70 to McIntyre Street.

View this project on the Jeffco Roadway Project dashboard (an interactive mapping application). Under the Capital Improvement Project list at the right-hand side of the dashboard, scroll to and click "Colfax Ave Sidewalk".

Project Scope:

The project includes installation of an eight-foot detached sidewalk, curb and gutter, and curb ramps. Project limits are the north side of W. Colfax Avenue (US-40) from Poppy Street to Nile Court. The county coordinated with Pleasant View Metropolitan District on the sidewalk route, which cuts through Paul J. Wolf Neighborhood Park.

Project Schedule:

Construction activities concluded at the beginning of October.

Project Impacts on Traffic:

The project will have minimal impact on traffic as most of the construction activity takes place outside the roadway. At times, construction activities will occur within the paved shoulder of W. Colfax Avenue. Drivers should be alert and follow posted speed limits within the work zone. There may be flaggers for traffic along Nile Court or Pike Street for a limited duration.
