With many of us travelling to different regions this holiday season, we’d like to remind you to not bring home any unexpected “Gifts”.
Invasive pests can easily be moved on vehicles, outdoor equipment and firewood. By following some simple steps you can prevent introducing unwanted pests to your neighborhood. When we prevent new pests, we all benefit.
Don’t Move Firewood - Firewood can harbor many different forest pests. Use it where you buy it.
Clean Your Equipment - Plant fragments can get caught on your boots or gear. Cleaning them off before leaving your site will stop them from moving into your area.
Clean Your Vehicles - invasive pests can be carried in soil or attach to the underside of your vehicle so cleaning it before returning home can stop their spread.
Inspect Outdoor Furniture and Building Materials - Some pests attach themselves to patio furniture, fence posts, lumber, and other materials. They can easily be moved from one area to the next so inspect before you transport.
