During the summer of 2021, the existing corrugated metal showed signs of failure. The county responded to the failure with a temporary fix and installed a steel plate over the roadway.
The project includes replacement of the existing corrugated metal pipe with a reinforced concrete box culvert. The installed concrete box culvert will have Redi-Rock wingwalls. The project also includes installing riprap areas on the upstream and downstream sides of the culvert for erosion protection.
Construction for this project began at the end of October and is planned to be complete by December 1, 2021.
For the duration of the project, there will be period when JC-73 will be reduced to single travel lane controlled by a temporary traffic signal. The project will also include a number of full night closures. Night closures of JC-73 are scheduled to occur on November 2 and November 3. A detour along N. Turkey Creek Road and US-285 route will be signed. The nighttime closures will occur from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. with signaled single-lane traffic through the site resuming at 6:00 a.m.
