Utility agencies and their contractors completed their respective underground utility line relocations in advance of the roadway reconstruction.
The roadway contractor is working in the first segment of West Quincy Avenue between South Swadley Court to West Quinn Drive. The north half of West Quincy Avenue in this segment is being constructed first. The contractor removed the asphalt and is beginning earthwork. Construction of new storm drainage improvements are scheduled to begin next week.
Overall, the project will progress from east to west along West Quincy Avenue and be constructed in segments. They are:
West Quincy Avenue remains open for one lane of traffic that will be controlled by temporary traffic signals. Using an alternate route around the construction on West Quincy Avenue is strongly encouraged.
Construction from South Youngfield Street to South Beech Way, in the spring of 2023, will likely require a full closure of this segment of West Quincy Avenue.
The overall construction timeline on West Quincy Avenue Phase 2 will be from October 10, 2022 through Summer 2023.
Project updates will be posted as the contractor proceeds with work.
