On Site Visitation

Taking Precautions during re-opening for COVID-19Effective June 1, 2020, the Detention Services Division Public Lobby will be open to public access with specific limitations.
  • All people entering the building must wear a face-covering and social distance and follow Public Health instructions on handwashing/sanitizer use
  • The lobby will be open between the hours of 0800-1800
  • Professional and personal visits will also be permitted with specific limitations
  • The lobby will be equipped with employee protection screens at the work station as well as hand sanitizer, masks, and signage for social distancing and hygiene protocols
The following protocols will be implemented upon opening the lobby to the public.
  • The number of people allowed in the lobby at any one time will be limited to 10
  • All visitors to the building will be required to wear a facial covering (mask)
  • If a visitor does not have a mask, one will be provided to them by the lobby deputy
  • The lobby deputy will be responsible for ensuring that all visitors adhere to social distancing requirements

Person Visits

  • Personal visits will be limited to 6 at a time
  • The visiting stations will be spread out to maintain social distancing
  •  Each visit will be limited to one person per visit

Professional Visits

  • Professional Visitors have been encouraged to schedule appointments to visit inmates. Call 303-271-5444
  • Walk-in professional visits will be accommodated if space and time allow. 
  • Scheduled visits will have priority over walk-in visits. 
  • Professional visitors will still be allowed to schedule and conduct visits remotely by contacting the lobby deputy via telephone. These visits have been encouraged and will be accommodated.  

By scheduling an on site visitation you must travel to our facility and conduct the visit from a video visitation terminal. All on site visits must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. Visits can be scheduled by:

Each inmate is allowed one, two, or three 20-minute on-site visits per week, depending on the inmates housing unit and classification. The visiting week begins on Sunday and ends on Saturday. Friends and family can schedule unlimited visits with an inmate remotely or by video visitation. See the remote visitation information below.

Times

General on site visits are allowed daily between:

  • 9 to 10:30 a.m.
  • 1:00 to 4:30 p.m.
  • 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reserves the right to cancel scheduled visits for cause without prior notice.  

The Sheriff’s Office does not guarantee that a visit will take place although scheduled due to unforeseen circumstances within the jail.   

Note:  Some modules have restricted visitation hours due to classification of inmate which may prohibit the scheduling of a visit.

Remote Visitation (Video Visitation) Visit an inmate from anywhere with Securus Video Visitation

By scheduling remote visitation, you can participate using a computer, webcam, and high speed internet access. Charges apply. 

Times

General remote visitation hours are daily between 8:10 to 10:30 a.m., 1 to 4:30 p.m., and 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. The visiting week begins on Sunday and ends on Saturday. To visit remotely you will need to do the following:

Create a visitation account at the Securus Tech website

  • Request access to visit
  • Once you are approved to be a remote visitor, you can then schedule remote visits
  • You will be required to pay for your visitation session at the time you schedule the session
