About the Public Trustee’s Office

The Treasurer of each County also serves as the Public Trustee. The powers, duties and procedures for operation are defined in Title 38 of the Colorado Revised Statues (CRS). This includes foreclosure on defaulted Deeds of Trust and the release of Deeds of Trust that have been satisfied.

The Jefferson County Public Trustee also acts as escrow agent for collection of property taxes under a contract for deed or designates an alternate agent within the county.
