Commendations & Complaints

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is dedicated to providing the best service possible to all citizens. Employees are carefully selected and trained.

If you see a Sheriff’s Office employee exhibit outstanding behavior, tell the employee – or us – about it. Likewise, we’d like to know when you feel the service you received was unsatisfactory.

Complaint Mediation

As of 2008, some allegations and inquiries may be eligible to go to a professional mediator through Mediation Services. Both the employee and the complainant must agree to mediation for it to be considered. Mediation is conducted at a neutral location by trained professionals. During the process, agreement between the employee and the complainant is not required, and both participants may speak freely. This alternative approach provides both citizens and employees the opportunity to be heard in person, while in a neutral and safe environment.
