Reopening Information

Effective June 1, Jefferson County Offices will reopen to the public. Please contact departments and offices directly to see if they provide services online and/or are open by appointment only. We strongly encourage wearing a face covering while visiting any county facility.

Also beginning June 1, most Jefferson County offices will be switching to a four-day business week and will be closed on Fridays. However, offices such as those related to courts and law enforcement will not be switching to this schedule. Please contact departments and offices directly for their hours of operation.

Changes in Effect June 1, 2020

Jefferson County Building Safety Office will transition to a 4-day business week. The office will provide service Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and will be closed on Friday. Office hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Phones open at 7:30 am M-Th.

Field Inspections will take place Monday through Friday. Starting at 8 am, the day of your inspection please go to today’s inspection times to see an am or pm time frame.

Inspection requests for building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing and
re-roofing may be done online anytime. Telephone inspection requests are available Monday through Thursday between 7:30 am and 5:00 pm @ 303-271-8260. Requests must be received by 5:00 p.m. the day before your inspection. Phone calls and emails will not be answered on Fridays. Scheduling an inspection on Friday for Monday must be done online.

Inspections in occupied structures may need to be completed using a remote video platform. Safety will be at the discretion of the inspector.

The use of the Online Permitting Portal is highly advised.

Submitting electronic documents for plan review and permit are requested.

Appendix Z

The county has adopted an addendum to the 2018 Jefferson County Code Supplement. Appendix Z - Special Building Construction Regulations in Wildfire Zone 1. Effective Date January 1, 2020.  


Passive Radon Mitigation System Inspection is now required for new residential construction per R109.3.5 of the 2018 Jefferson County Residential Code Supplement.
