Effective June 1, Jefferson County Offices will reopen to the public. Please contact departments and offices directly to see if they provide services online and/or are open by appointment only. We strongly encourage wearing a face covering while visiting any county facility.
Also beginning June 1, most Jefferson County offices will be switching to a four-day business week and will be closed on Fridays. However, offices such as those related to courts and law enforcement will not be switching to this schedule. Please contact departments and offices directly for their hours of operation.
About the Archives
Jefferson County Archives collects and preserves the historically valuable records of our county government as well as other types of collections relating to the history of the county. Our collections date from 1859.
If You Plan to Visit
In order to provide the best possible service to our patrons, the Reading Room is open by appointment only. Please look through our Archival Collections pages to choose what records or collections you would like to see, and then contact us at 303-271-8448 to schedule a research appointment or do so via email.
The Archives maintains a small reference library containing published books relating to Jefferson County and Colorado history. These reference books are available for use in the Reading Room only; no material from the Archives may be checked out. (Some of these materials may be available at local libraries.)
We also have Jefferson County Historical Commission publications available, including current and back issues of Historically Jeffco magazine and From Scratch: A History of Jefferson County, Colorado.
