Volunteer Opportunities

Sheriff’s Office volunteers are a diverse group. Ages run the spectrum from teens to retirees. A few volunteers are Peace Officer Standards Training (POST)-certified law enforcement reserves. Many volunteers work during the week, while others are called on weekends to respond to crime scenes for victim support. Work schedules vary by position and individual needs. The selection process for volunteer positions involves an application, interview, polygraph examination, and background investigation. Volunteers may work in many areas at the Sheriff’s Office:

  • Animal Control
  • Investigations
  • Jail volunteer: chaplaincy, General Education Degree program, inmate programs
  • Mounted Patrol
  • Patrol
  • Reserve deputies
  • Training and Recruiting
