Deputy Hugs

About the Program

Studies have shown that no single object calms a troubled child as quickly as a teddy bear. "Deputy Hugs" bears work with the Victim Services Unit, comforting frightened young victims of crisis or crime.

The program, which began in 1991, works as follows: for a donation of $20, you can adopt "Deputy Hugs" for yourself or your child. At the same time, your donation will bring a "Deputy Hugs" into the life of a child in need.

Deputies carry the bears in their patrol cars and give them to troubled children whenever appropriate.
