Civil Service
The Civil Unit provides a wide variety of services for Jefferson County. These include, but are not limited to: service of civil process (serving court papers), execution of court-ordered evictions, the court-ordered sale of real and personal property and providing deputy civil assists.

Criminal Justice Records
The Records Unit serves as the central processing department for criminal justice records. Records is responsible for the processing, maintaining, archiving, retrieving and releasing of information and copies of reports in accordance with federal and state regulations and guidelines.

Drug Take-Back
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has installed four safe disposal sites for residents to drop off unused or expired household medications. Secure medication drop boxes are now available at all 3 precincts and the jail lobby.

Residents having medical conditions that may cause them to wander have additional help thanks to Colorado LifeTrak, a rapid-response program in which the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is participating.

Property Retrieval
The Sheriff's Office works to maintain property in the same condition in which it was received, and to preserve the evidentiary value and integrity of property for possible court presentation.

Shred-a-thon
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is partnering with CrimeStoppers, 9News and the Shred-it Inc. document shredding company to help prevent identity theft.

Searches & Research
The Records Unit processes additional searches and research requests not covered in a standard fee schedule. These large research requests require manipulation of data and are considered non-standard records requests.

Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) Inspections
If you reside in Jefferson County, you may receive a verification of a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). You must provide proof of ownership, VIN and vehicle description and current mileage.

Victim Services
Since 1993, the sheriff's office has undertaken the awesome responsibility of providing respectful care to victims of crime and trauma. The program has steadily grown and developed, and today the Victim Services Unit is a 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week response team.
