Message from Clerk George P. Stern
Thank you for visiting our website. The Jefferson County Clerk and Recorder’s office is one of the most public facing departments in Colorado government, affecting almost every person in our large and diverse county. If you vote in elections, drive a vehicle, own a home, need a liquor license for your business, want a passport for your next trip, or are getting married, we’re the ones to help. And given the importance of those activities, I take our responsibility to assist you very seriously.
Our office’s mission is to deliver accessible, efficient, and transparent service that’s a nationwide model for local governments by engaging our constituents and empowering our employees.
That means a 21st-century motor vehicle office where you rarely need to come in and wait in line because you can do almost everything from a kiosk at the grocery store or from your phone at home. It also means elections that are open to all eligible voters while remaining secure from modern threats, and administrative services that are simpler and more convenient.
After taking office on January 8, 2019, I have been hard at work with our staff on these improvements. While some of our changes are already complete – from enabling online passport appointments to finally accepting credit cards across all of our divisions – many of our larger modernizations are just getting underway. So stay tuned.
In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to contact me at any time with questions, ideas, or concerns. I welcome your feedback.
As a Golden resident and volunteer firefighter, I am proud to call Jefferson County home, and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve you.
Sincerely,
George P. Stern
Clerk and Recorder
