Science-Inspired Art Contest!
The Jefferson County Regional Crime Laboratory (JCRCL) is seeking science-inspired art pieces that will be permantently displayed in the hallways of the crime lab.
Who: This contest is open to high school students, college students, city/county employees, and law enforcement employees in Jefferson County.
What: Science-inspired art pieces
The JCRCL specializes in DNA analysis, firearms examination, drug chemistry, and latent print analysis. However, art pieces can be inspired by any kind of science such as: biology, microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, structural engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, anatomy and physiology, space/astronomy, and geology.
- Types of art submissions include but are not limited to: Paintings (oil, acrylic, watercolor), drawings (pencil, charcoal, etc.), photography, computer-generated art, sculpture (clay, wood, metal, etc.).
- Three-dimensional art no larger than 56" wide x 74" tall x 16" deep
- Two-dimensional art no larger than 48" wide x 72" tall
When: The contest runs through Friday, December 8, 2023.

You can also contact her with any questions. Once you have submitted your rendering, you will be given instructions on how to submit the actual piece of art.
How: All accepted artwork will be seen by a panel of judges. Winners will have their artwork permanently displayed in the JCRCL hallways, will recieve a variety of prizes, a behind-the-scenes tour of the lab, and will be showcased on social media and at a reception in early 2024.
The JCRCL provides services to all law enforcement agencies within Jefferson County with an agreement between the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, City of Arvada, City of Golden, City of Lakewood, and City of Wheat Ridge Police departments. It is located at the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, 200 Jefferson County Parkway in Golden, Colorado.
