Opioid addiction and overdoses have devastated families and communities across Colorado and the crisis poses a serious threat to the state's public heath, safety and economy.
To address the crisis, and as a result of several historic settlements with major drug manufacturers and distributors, the Colorado Department of Law announced a groundbreaking framework for distributing nearly $400 million in opioid settlement dollars throughout the state for addiction treatment, recovery and prevention programs.
The dollars will be distributed to 19 regions (click here to view region map), local governments, the state and infrastructure needs. Click here to view a fact sheet.
Clear Creek, Gilpin and Jefferson counties make up Region 10, or the Gateway to the Rockies Opioid Council (GROC). GROC, similarly to other regions in the state, will, in alignment with a state-wide joint framework, ensure funding awarded to the state from the settlements are invested in the region in a way that will have the most impact.
