Large Animal Evacuations

Large Animal Evacuation

During emergencies, Jeffco Fairgrounds can be activated as a large animal evacuation center. Direction to activate comes from the Jeffco Sheriff’s Office and until Jeffco Fairgrounds is given that direction, we are not able to accept large animal evacuations. When we are accepting large animal evacuations, Jeffco Fairgrounds will post on our social media pages, the links to which can be found to the left in yellow.  When activated, small animal evacuations, including dogs, cats, and chickens can be taken to Foothills Animal Shelter. More information on evacuations can be found on the Jeffco Sheriff’s Office website on the Animal Evacuations page.

When we’re accepting large animal evacuations, the Fairgrounds team is typically away from our computers and out in the field. Because of this, you may experience delayed response times. If you have an immediate need, please call 303-271-6600.
