In 2014, the Board of County Commissioners ("BCC") established the Sustainability Commission ("Commission") to create an informational clearinghouse and an open compendium of sustainability best practices.
With the passage of Resolution CC20-254, the BCC declared addressing Climate Change as a critical priority for the County and resolved to develop a Climate Action Plan. For more details, click on the left tab titled Climate Action Plan.
Jefferson County and Community First Foundation ("CFF") have signed an Intergovernmental Agreement that will create a Sustainability Commission Fund which will enable CFF to accept tax-deductible donations in support of this effort. Donations could be used, for example, to retain a consultant to prepare a Climate Action Plan as well as other Commission lead efforts approved by the BCC.
