Employer Talent Development Program grant funds are available for local organizations to organizations in Jefferson, Clear Creek, and Gilpin Counties. Funded by the federal Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act and awarded through Jefferson County Business & Workforce Center, these grants are intended to enable organizations to provide training to upskill current staff or avert potential layoffs. Approximately $300,000 in Employer Talent Development Grants funds will be available to support this initiative.  

How does it work?

Reimbursement funding will be made available to businesses in Jefferson, Gilpin, and Clear Creek counties to provide training to upskill current employees. The Employer Talent Development Program (ETDP) is focused on staff training that is work-based, virtual, and/or classroom training that increases the competitiveness of the employee and the employer. Once the training has been completed and validated, Jefferson County Business & Workforce will reimburse the approved costs.

Options for training include a variety of work-based, virtual, or classroom training for current employees that will increase the competitiveness of both employees and the business. Employers are able to choose the training that will best meet the needs of their company and their employees. Past examples of training include Six Sigma, value stream mapping, lean manufacturing, AC/DC electricity, multi-industry systems technician (MIST) programming, total productive maintenance (TPM), advanced programmable logic controllers (PLCs), customized ISO, rapid cycle product innovation, electrical schematics, motors and controls, advanced hydraulic, business soft skills training, including focus on communication, teamwork, conflict resolution, strategic planning, resiliency training, critical thinking, and problem solving.

When does it close?

Application deadline: July 29, 2022

Applications will be reviewed, and grantees chosen by August 17, 2022.

Why apply?

This program allows participants to acquire new skills enabling them to move into higher-skilled and higher-paid positions within a company, thus permitting the company to hire a job seeker to back-fill the incumbent worker’s pre-training position.
