Jefferson County Strategic Plan
A strategic plan serves to set priorities, focus energy and resources, strengthen operations, and ensure that employees and other stakeholders are working toward common goals for the betterment of the organization. A strategic plan becomes an agreement that helps keep the county accountable for outcomes and results. It allows the county to continuously assess and adapt its direction in response to ever-changing environments. The strategic plan will help Jefferson County focus our financial resources on the most crucial community needs. In this way, Jefferson County’s strategic plan will serve as a roadmap to move both the county and the community toward its intended vision.
Jefferson County is working on its strategic plan for 2022 and beyond.
The outcomes and objectives identified in the plan will directly align and support the development of the 2022 Jefferson County budget and will guide the work we do over the next several years.
The plan is organized by six proposed outcome areas:
- Create Safe, Healthy and Thriving Communities
- Enhance Inclusive Community Engagement
- Ensure Responsible Growth and Development
- Improve Public Infrastructure and Protect Natural Resources
- Operate as an Employer of Choice
- Provide Innovative, Equitable, and Effective Services
The county is working to finalize the strategic outcomes based on the feedback we received.

Feedback and Input on the Strategic Plan
In order to define our strategic plan, the county held formal feedback sessions with the community, business and nonprofit groups, county elected and appointed officials and county employees to provide their input on the proposed strategic outcomes.

For those that were able to attend the input meetings in April, thank you for your time and input into this plan. If you were not able to join in the process for this round of feedback and would like to provide input for future consideration, please fill out our online form.
NOTE: Since formal feedback sessions have already been held, any feedback provided at this time will be passed down to departments for them to consider and prioritize in their current initiatives as well as will be collected for consideration during the next input period. Until that time, no direct response to feedback will be provided.
