Environmental Land Use Planning

Jefferson County Public Health ensures that public and environmental health issues such as water, sanitation, air, noise and active living concepts are evaluated and considered in land use decisions.

Services

  • Review residential and commercial development proposals in unincorporated Jefferson County that are received from the Jefferson County Planning and Zoning Division.
  • Review residential and commercial development proposals for cities within Jefferson County upon request of the local planning department.
  • Provide testimony and expertise regarding public and environmental health issues to the Jefferson County Planning Commission and Board of County Commissioners on developmental proposals.
  • Work with developers, land use planners and interested citizens regarding environmental concerns associated with proposed land use cases.
  • Participate in the review of the County Comprehensive Master Plan and Community Area Plans.
