In recent years, Colorado and the Denver Metro area have become somewhat of a melting pot of the United States, with many people moving here from other areas of the country. As a result, residents are often asked “Are you a native?” And I am always proud to explain that not only am I a native of Colorado, but both my parents were born and raised in Jefferson County.

Jefferson County is my home and, like everyone else, I want my home to be safe. Therefore, I take my responsibility as sheriff very seriously. In addition to keeping my wife, children, and grandchildren safe, I am also responsible for keeping you and your loved ones safe.

Thankfully I have a lot of help. Over 800 Sheriff’s Office employees and 300 volunteers partner with our residents, business owners, faith leaders, and local law enforcement, fire, and EMS agencies to ensure our community of 550,000 people is the safest place possible to live, learn, work, and play.

At the Sheriff’s Office we provide public safety services and uphold the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Colorado with integrity, excellence, and respect. I hope your experience with our office reflects this commitment to our community. If you have a comment, compliment, or concern, please do not hesitate to contact us.
