Jeffco Open Space offers Small Research Grants to individuals or groups to conduct applied studies on Jeffco Open Space lands. The goal of this program is to fund research that will inform the management of these lands. Funding announcements for the upcoming year are typically posted in November, with proposals due in January. Awards are typically in the $1,000 to $5,000 range, although grants up to $10,000 may be awarded. All research must be completed within the same year, unless otherwise approved. Multi-year projects may be considered.
Applicants may choose a topic suggested by Jeffco Open Space staff, or propose an alternative topic of their own interest that has significance to resource management and visitor experience issues. All projects must take place on Jeffco Open Space property. Investigators must provide staff with their results in a written report. Investigators may be asked to present to staff, visitors, or participate in a bi-annual Front Range Research Symposium.
