Recruitment

The Recruiting Unit is responsible for the application and testing processes for both sworn and civilian positions at the Sheriff's Office. Recruiting staff is trained in federal and state compliance; cultural awareness; written, oral, and physical agility examinations; medical requirements; and record systems for applicant tracking.

Training & Academy 

The Training Unit provides two state-certified law enforcement academies and multiple department-certified academies each year. They also manage all annual in-service training for sworn and civilian personnel. 

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and Lakewood Police Department Combined Regional Academy lesson plans are designed and adhere to specific performance objectives outlined in the state curriculum and include firearms training, emergency driving training, basic first aid, CPR training, and arrest control.
